The Little Merman

"One more lap, Ariel." The swirling bubbles filled my ears as the water enveloped my body. It is cold yet the fire burning in my heart keep me warm. I have only one goal - to win. I flap my arms more. "Good job. That's all for today! We don't have training tomorrow. Condition yourself for the Championship." It was like any other competition. And winning, it wasn't as sweet as it is anymore. This is used to be a passion but lately, every movement came out forced. To think of it, I never really liked swimming. It is my father that forced me to. It is his dream that he wasn't able to fulfill. Every time I go into the water, I feel like all the courage were also washed away by the waves that passes through me. "Prrrrrrt." I pushed my body against the cold unfriendly water. Bubbles felt like ice needles piercing through my skin. I can't move. "Help! Help! My son Ariel!" Dazed and confused. I hear faint sound of sirens and shouts. One... Two... Three... I closed my eyes as I embrace my finish line. ---- A soft warm thing filled my lips. Air passes through my throat and lots I have been able to feel the compressions against my chest. Little by little I adjusted my eyes to the blinding light I see in front of me. A bright sunny sky on my world full of blues and grays. The colorful rainbow after the sepia rain. Red swollen lips fresh from the mouth to mouth resuscitation. Intense dark deep-set eyes and long feathered lashes. Beads of water gliding smoothly on the smooth arch of the pointed nose of this heaven sent angel. I lost yet it feels like as if I have won. "He's awake! He's awake!" "Are you okay?" The sinful dimples became more evident. Making me fall harder. "Good response, Eric!" Just too bad, whether in reality or in real life, a prince doesn't look for another prince. #WMSShortsies
